Wise Owl Publications have been publishing books since 1991 and have kept up a long family tradition dating back to 1938 when Joseph Michael Vella took up employment as a journalist with “The Times of Malta”. He also contributed regularly to the humorous publication “Dr. Brombos”. These works were collected in a book “Ktieb id-Dahq” in 1949 but which due to lack of funds remained unpublished! In 1991, Joseph’s son Mark Anthony published his own book “Simple Successful Gardening in Malta” and later published “Ktieb id-Dahq” which had laid in his mother’s chest for over 40 years ... all were an immediate success! Joseph Michael Vella’s dream had been fulfilled some ten years after his demise.
Since then, Wise Owl Publications have published some 150 titles on a variety of subjects which include Maltese History, Culture and Folklore, Natural History, Children’s books, Novels, Health and Cookery as well as Tourist Guides compiled by both Maltese and foreign acclaimed authors.
A number of Wise Owl Publications are used by Primary and Secondary Schools while many titles, especially those on Military History have sold well on the international market.
